Treatment Options for Scars

Treatment Options for Scars
By Dr. Peter Klapper Ph.D.

Depending on the type and severity of scarring, there are many treatments available. Options include cosmetic surgery, dermatological procedures, injections and topical treatments among others.

Traditional Treatments
Cosmetic surgery has been used for years to help patients reduce dramatic scarring, but the cost associated with this is preventative for many. Scar revision is a form of cosmetic surgery that works by literally cutting the scar tissue out, and then closing the wound with stitches, sutures or adhesive glue. In addition, the surgery itself can result in additional scarring. For extreme cases such contracture scarring, skin grafts are a common treatment. A skin graft is highly delicate procedure that takes healthy skin from one area of the body and transfers it to the scarred or damaged area. It is recommended only in the most extreme cases, as needed for severe burn victims.

Dermatological procedures attempt to flatten and remove layers of skin using techniques like dermabrasion or laser scar removal. These techniques typically require ongoing treatment over many months of visits to a dermatologist and can intensify the affected area until the treatment is complete. Laser therapy can be effective on keloid and hypertrophic scars, using lasers to resurface the scar tissue. Recent advancements in technology have improved recovery times for laser scar removal, although the treatment can still be considered risky. Chemical peels have also been used as a means of destroying the buildup of scar tissue but should be used cautiously.

Steroid injections are another form of treatment available for managing scar tissue. While steroids won’t completely eliminate the scar, long term usage of corticosteroid injections have been shown to flatten and reduce the appearance of keloid and hypertrophic scars. However, numerous injections over several months are often required before any results are seen.

Organic Treatments
Many patients suffering from cosmetic issues related to scarring have turned to natural remedies, rather than the aforementioned treatments. Forces of Nature has created a completely revolutionary organic scar treatment that can help with nearly all types of scarring.

Our Scar Control formula is 100% USDA organic certified and can help with keloid scars, hypertrophic scars, contractures, acne related scarring and stretch marks. Our solution helps treat both old and new scars and is safe to use anywhere on the face and body. Applied as a topical treatment, it reduces scar tissue and discoloration of the skin, penetrating deep into the skin tissue. It also promotes general skin health and tone.

Like all Forces of Nature products, our Scar Control organic scar treatment uses a dual action formula. We combine certified organic homeopathic agents that reduce scar tissue, with the healing power of botanical extracts that soothe and nourish damaged skin. This unique blend of natural healing agents is a proprietary formula you won’t find anywhere, but Forces of Nature. We use botanical extracts selected for their richness in triple unsaturated fatty acids and ketones, properties proven to soothe skin. The lipophilic properties of our botanicals allow them to permeate deep into cell membranes, carrying the homeopathic drugs into the scar tissue and wearing away collagen buildup. This can result in a diminished appearance for your scars in as little as 1 to 3 months.

As a natural topical, our scar formula is easy to apply anywhere on the body. With three applications per day, you’ll begin to see a noticeable reduction in the size and severity of the treated scar within 3 months.
