Benefits of Cypress for Improved Circulation & Skin Health

By Dr. Peter Klapper Ph.D.

The Mediterranean cypress (Cupressus sempervierens) is a species of evergreen coniferous tree native to the eastern Mediterranean region that has many benefits, including improved circulation and skin health and is widely used as a home remedy for conditions such as varicose and spider veins.

What Are Varicose and Spider Veins?
When the veins in the legs and feet become twisted and appear blue or dark purple, they’re more than likely a case of varicose veins. Spider veins, on the other hand, are smaller, web-like clusters of dilated blood vessels that can be red, blue or purple and typically found on the face and legs. While both conditions are generally benign, varicose veins can cause discomfort and may require medical attention while spider veins are often considered a cosmetic concern.

So, how do these conditions occur?
Both spider veins and varicose veins are primarily caused by a weakening or malfunctioning of the valves within the blood vessels. In the case of varicose veins, this valve dysfunction leads to blood pooling in the veins causing them to enlarge and become twisted. Spider veins are a result from the dilation of small blood vessels near the skin's surface due to increased pressure.

Cypress Oil and Varicose/Spider Veins
In order to treat conditions such as varicose and spider veins naturally, Cypress oil is the most effective treatment option. When used topically, the oil from Cypress (found in our Varicose Vein Treatment) addresses the root cause of varicose and spider veins to safely enhance blood flow and thereby reverse symptoms. It also is tonifying, strengthening, and acts as a decongestant for veins.

While great at improving circulation and treating varicose veins, it is important to apply on the skin up to 3 or 4 times a day until the symptoms have cleared. If you have a larger surface infected, we offer a 30ml bottle so you can effectively treat your area of concern. It can take time to reverse, so don’t give up! The results are worth it.

Cypress and Other Skin Health
While Cypress oil effectively treats varicose veins it also can be used to treat cellulite due to its properties that promote circulation and lymphatic drainage. Cellulite occurs when fat deposits push through the connective tissue beneath the skin, creating a dimpled or lumpy appearance. By promoting blood circulation, Cypress oil may assist in breaking down fat deposits and encouraging the elimination of toxins through improved lymphatic flow.

By embracing the holistic approach to well-being and exploring the wonders of Cypress oil you will enjoy the long-lasting and revitalizing effects you’ll see on both your circulation and skin health.
